A Moscow court has fined 22-year-old Russian activist Rostislav Chebotarev 15,000 rubles ($250) for promulgating vegan propaganda during a May Day rally.
The Tverskoy District Court found Mr Chebotarev guilty of violating the rules for participating in rallies and demonstrations, after he wielded a banner at a Moscow march on International Workers’ Day reading: “No exploitation is necessary — become a vegan”.
According to the court ruling, Mr Chebotarev propagandised “vegetarianism and non-traditional relations”, thus violating the rules of the procession.
