The story of Miss Todd
The first woman to build and fly her own plane (1909)
(animated video short)
It's 1909, and the whole world is waking to the possibilities of flight. Miss Todd dreams of flying, but she's got more than gravity holding her down. This is the story of her determination, her perseverance, and her passion - inspired by E. Lilian Todd - the first woman in the world to build and design an airplane.

The Starling That Dared To Be Different
A video from Rhode Island School of Design professor/artist Dennis Hlynsky. He goes around Rhode Island making films of large groups of birds resting and flying, and, with help from After Effects (and other software), he's able to trace a bird's movements through time.

Pelican Learns To Fly Again
I'm not sure if this is torturous for the pelican or not, thinking' probably not, but it's pretty fucking incredible to watch...
Abandoned by his flock, Bigbird the pelican stumbled ashore after a storm and was taken in by the staff of Greystoke Mahale in Tanzania. The bird had forgotten how to fly. The staff strapped a GoPro camera to his giant beak and watched as he learned to fly again.

Why birds fly in a V formation
Why do birds fly in a "V" formation? Scientists at the UK's Royal Veterinary College attached sensors to endangered ibises migrating from Austria to Tuscany. What they confirmed is that the aerodynamics of V flocking helps the birds conserve energy and that they optimize this by careful positioning and timing their wing flaps. "Precision formation flight astounds scientists" (Nature)

The Fastest Radio Controlled Jet Aircraft You've Ever Seen
Radio controlled jet powered by a Jetcat P160 SE.i'm not even sure this is real. It seems like if you ran this into anything some one would die. I mean accidents do happen, how the fuck did they fly this thing as well as they did?
On the 23rd of May 2009, this Jet was lasered @ 586 KpH
Which makes it a 366 MpH plane...
Thanks, Presurfer.
